Today my "babies" turned 5. I can't say that I rember the last 5 years, but I know there was lots of laughter, a lot of poop (a lot!), too many loads of laundry to count, major milestones met, and lots of tears (both theirs and mine).

Along with some books and new leapster games, my little super heros got real superhero capes from an internet friend who also has triplet boys. On one side of each cape is a Batman cape, on the other side is Flash, Captain America, and Superman. Trey loved his so much that he thinks that he is Batman. I heard giggling from their room after bedtime tonight and when I came upstairs, he was standing on his head. His explination was that Batman sleeps upside down. It took some convincing, but after explaining that Batman only slept upsidedown when he was Batman, not when he was Bruce Wayne, did Trey finally get into bed.

We're going to be celebrating all weekend with our Triplet groups Fall festival (where the Justice League will premier), seeing the Children's Theater production of How I became a Pirate, and dinner at Chuck E Cheese. We've managed to avoid the mouse for five years, but the boys have been asking to go for months. Maybe we can go this time and not again for five more years? Right?

This morning at church, during announcements, Ryan raised his hand. And our pastor thought it was a good idea to hand him the microphone. Before I could stop him, Ryan gave this tiny bit of wisdome, "You shouldn't eat too many bananas becaue they make it hard to poop. But if you eat your vegetables, than your poop is soft. Oh and grapes too." Having kids is awesome!

Justice Legue Drama

The past few years we've made a pretty big deal about Halloween and gone as a family theme. This year I almost had every convinced to go as Phineas and Ferb characters, but Superhero's swooped in to save the day again.

After lots of debate among the little lawyers in our house that I wish I would have recorded, the finally agreed to be Batman characters. Here is their choice for mommy:

So now we are going as the Justice Legue - Batman, Flash, Superman, Green Lantern, and Supergirl.

Ryan's thermometer

The other day I was putting all three boys in the bath. Ryan was the first one in and I asked him about the temperature of the water. He told me first that it was just right until he sat down. With a completely straight face, looks up to me with his big blue eyes and said, "Mom, according to my penis, the water is too hot! When the water is too cold, it goes in and it's too hot so it's sticking out." I have no idea how to respond to something like that.

Anyone know a good plumber?

We have been lucky with the boys. They did not take diapers off and smear them on the wall, we don't have little strippers (most of the time), there is some toy breaking, but not bad and they have never ever put things in the toilet until last night...

I thought there was a "floater" that was only half flushed because they don't like to flush. After trying to get it to go down and doing my business, I flushed a second time. The water was almost out of the bowl! Yelling for Eric to get the plunger since all things with the "throne" are his job I start to panic that it's going to really run over. Just in time, it slowly starts to drain and Eric decides it's ok and flushes again. I heard a yell, "I need a towel, I need a towel!" Running in, the water was once again about to overflow! The plunger made a rattling sound and after several fishing attempts, a small boulder is pulled out!

When asked this morning, Evan tells us that he did it because he was done playing and it was stinky. The new rule in our house is pee, poop, and five sheets of toilet paper only and I hope that we do not have any more fishing expeditions that may require a plumber.

Disney Playhouse Live

Way too long since my last post, but with my mom sick, it's just been put to the bottom of my list.

Anyway, we decided to take the boys to see Playhouse Disney Live last night and have a fun family night. The show had Mickey's Clubhouse, My Friends Tigger and Pooh, Little Einsteins, and Handy Manny. They LOVED it! They had seen Dora at Kings Island and didn't move through the whole show. This time they danced, yelled back when they were asked questions, and screamed in excitement when some characters came on stage. Evan asked to see another movie right after it. It is amazing that our little peanuts are getting old enough to do these things. On the way home, (after a small meltdown!) they talked to each other about the whole show. That made it all worth it!

swim lessons

The boys have thier first swim lesson today. They are so excited and have been saying all week that on Wednesday they are going swimming outside. I've tried to tell them that it's an inside pool, but they aren't buying it.
It's hard to believe how quickly they are growing up. They had thier first Christmas program this year and sang two song in front of a huge audience, they are asking for their privacy now and everything is "I do it!" Next thing I'll know, they'll be asking for the keys to the car...

So two days late and a picture not even from today, but still a picture I think is great. It's from this Christmas and Uncle Punky was a very good sport.

But he usually is. Today at nap time, Evan sat up and said, "Hey, Uncle Punky doesn't have hair!" Eric felt the need to expand on it when I told him the story to be, "Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Uncle Punky has no hair." And taught it to the boys to say over the phone. Everyone else thought it was pretty funny...

New Year!

The new year is upon us and I had all intention of starting Project 365 that a fellow triplet mom told me about. It is 11 pm and I do not have any pictures that I can add for today. As Scarlet says, "Tomorrow is another day!"

I don't like to make resolutions, but do love to make goals. For 2009 my goals are:

1. Yell less and praise more

2. Post a picture a day

3. get to a single digit pants size

4. Cheer louder than anyone when Eric graduates in May

5. Send Birthday cards

I've got over 250 pictures to go through from Christmas between 4 different cameras (only 1 is mine) and several stories from out in Las Vegas that I will try to post in the next few days.

Earlier this week, Kendra and I went to get our hair done and stopped at Noodle and Co. for lunch after. They had these really cute chopstick holders and I thought that the boys would love them, so I snatched three - hey, I did buy lunch there, so I could have used them myself.
Tonight for dinner, we had apples and fish sticks and I broke out the chopsticks for the boys to use. They each ended up tearing their apples into bite size pieces and then using the chopsticks to eat. (I don't know how to rotate these, sorry!)

Evan was helping put together a sticker nativity scene at school. He decided that the cow should be up near the top of the stable. His teacher asked him if he wanted the cow to be on the ground and he answered, "Well the cow jumped over the moon." So their nativity scene now has a cow in the rafters!

The other day, the boys teacher had to show me a video she took of the boys. Apparently, Ryan has decided that he is just like Daddy and is a conductor. He even has his own "band" to stand in front of. The baton is really the bow of a play violin but works well for his purpose.

Things I'm thankful for and surgery

My hysterectomy was a success. My doctor was able to keep my ovaries so no menopause for this 29 year old! We had been telling the boys that mommy had a boo boo that a doctor was going to fix. After I had my IV out, Eric brought the boys in to visit. I guess Trey really had been missing me the night before and just wanted to cuddle in the bed with me. They all asked if I had a band-aid and if I was in the "hopital." Ryan was my little engineer and wanted to see how the bed went up and down and how the over-bed table worked. Evan just wanted to color and play with the stickers the nurses gave him.

I had to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital and could only have jell-0 and chicken broth, but I'm thankful for my family, that we are all healthy. Eric is almost done with his masters, the boys love their school, I have a job and not having to look for a new one in this economy.

Pink Eye

Trey woke up this morning with a really really really red eye. The longer he was awake, the redder it got. After a quick trip to the doctor, it's not just another sty, but pink eye. It's always comforting when you are told that they'll put a few refills on it for when the other two get it.

I'm going to give this another try again. The boys are doing so many new things that I know I forget when they are older and this is the perfect way to remember them.

For example:

Ryan says that "Life's a butter dream" for row, row, row your boat

Evan calls Ketchup, Chepchup

Trey can tell these fantastic stories that last forever and you can only understand every 5th word.

We've had a crazy few months. Eric started his second year of grad school (only a few more months left!) and to help save money, he's living at Miami and the boys and I have moved in with my mom. We have managed to move our whole house into her basement. It's a tight squeeze, but it's only a few months.

Walking with two year olds

Yesterday, we finally had nice weather and we decided to take the boys for a walk after work. We had so much fun looking at the world from their eyes. Everything that Ryan liked, he would say "Oh look a ..." Even the weeds in the cracks were exciting. But I do think we've watched too much Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, all the birds were baby redbird and they were waiting for Goofy to come down the street to help baby redbird find it's mommy.

I am anti -new things on the computer. My husband set up a Facebook page for me, but I never ever get on it (don't have the time or see the point). BUT... I decided that this would be a great way to chronical the craziness that has become my life since my triplet boys turned two.

For example, bubbles and sidewalk chalk can provide hours of entertainment as long as you are willing to draw countless circles and zeros over and over. And in case you are wondering, a circle and a zero are two different things in a two year olds mind.
